Millwall Boosting Squad with Potential Signings of Duncan Watmore and Oliver Burke

Millwall Boosting Squad with Potential Signings of Duncan Watmore and Oliver Burke

As the January transfer window draws to a close, rumors are swirling that Millwall Football Club is set to make two significant additions to its squad. The first is Duncan Watmore, a former Sunderland player who has been making waves with Middlesbrough this season. Although this move is still very much a rumour at this point.

The second player in the mix is Oliver Burke, who spent the second half of last season on loan with Millwall and is now set to return, this time on a loan deal from German club Werder Bremen. Burke made a big impact in his short time at The Den, scoring two goals in 14 appearances and showing off his pace and power as an attacking force. The Scottish international is set to undergo a medical today as reported by Richard Cawley on twitter and if all goes well, he’ll be back in a Millwall shirt before you know it.

With the transfer deadline rapidly approaching, fans will be holding their breath in anticipation of these potential signings. Watmore’s pace and versatility make him a real danger in the final third, while Burke’s power and athleticism have already earned him a place in the hearts of Millwall supporters.

Nisbet to the Rescue: Scottish Striker Set to Boost Millwall’s Promotion Push

Millwall Football Club is on the verge of signing Hibernian striker, Kevin Nisbet. The 25-year-old Scottish international is known for his goal-scoring abilities and has impressed this season, scoring 7 goals in 6 Scottish Premiership games. The clubs have reportedly agreed on a transfer fee, and the move is pending a successful medical examination and the agreement of personal terms.

Nisbet’s arrival would be a huge boost for Millwall, as the club looks to climb the table and push for promotion to the Premier League. He would be seen as a direct replacement for Benik Afobe, who recently joined Hatta Club on a free transfer. This would be Millwall’s second signing of the January transfer window and would add further depth to the squad.

It’s worth noting that the transfer fee for Nisbet will reportedly make him the highest ever transfer fee record holder for the club, which shows the level of commitment and ambition that Millwall has in bringing in a player of Nisbet’s quality and potential. It also demonstrates the club’s intention to compete at the highest level and to bring in players who can make a real impact on the team’s performances.

It’s also worth mentioning that Nisbet had a knee injury in February 2022, but since then he has made a successful return to action and has been in excellent form. His impressive performances this season have shown that he has fully recovered from his injury and is ready to take the next step in his career.

If everything goes to plan, the transfer could be formally completed soon. Millwall fans will be excited to see Nisbet in action, as he is a proven goal-scorer with a wealth of experience and quality. With Nisbet’s arrival, the club’s attack will be strengthened and it will give them a real chance of pushing for promotion to the Premier League.

Millwall could be set for another January departure

Millwall could be set for another January departure with the Lions set to part ways with George Evans.

Reports suggest that the midfielder, who has struggled for regular game time in the last two seasons, could be in line for a move to fellow Championship side Huddersfield Town.

Evans joined Millwall from Derby County in January 2021. He has made 53 appearances for the Lions and scored two goals since his arrival.

The former Manchester City man has played just 49 minutes in the Championship this season and has not been part of the last two matchday squads in the league. He featured in the 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United in the FA Cup on Saturday coming on as a 76th minute replacement for Danny McNamara.

Evans has not started a league game for the Lions since the 22nd January 2022 – a 1-0 defeat at Blackpool.

He has not made a start in any competition this season since the 1-0 defeat at Cambridge in the first round of the EFL Cup in August.

Millwall could be set to lose Benik Afobe this Transfer Window.

Millwall could be set to lose Benik Afobe this month according to @EmeryKabongoM on twitter.

The former Stoke man signed for the club on a one year deal in the summer transfer window after spending last season on loan in SE16.

Emery Kabongo is reporting that Afobe will leave London for UAE club Hatta Club.

Another source is also reporting that a medical will take place today at Hatta club (Wednesday).

Isaac Olaofe joins Stockport County on permanent deal from Millwall

Isaac Olaofe has joined Stockport County for an undisclosed fee from Millwall.

The youngster has played a few games this season, featuring during pre-season friendlies and the Lions 1-0 defeat against Cambridge United in the EFL Cup.

Stockport manager, Challinor said: “I’ve tracked Isaac for some time and to finally get a deal done to be able to work with him is really pleasing. I must thank Mark and the board for allowing us to invest in not just the present, but the future as well.

“It’s third time lucky I suppose, I’ve tried to take Isaac to Hartlepool but that unfortunately didn’t happen. We then spoke prior to the August transfer window shutting but he felt he needed to go and prove himself in League 1 having done well at Sutton in League 2, which I totally understood, had a really good conversation with him and we wished each other well.

“Finally, this time we’ve got our man. I hope and believe the saying that good things come to those who wait will be very fruitful in this instance and I’m delighted he’s agreed to come and join us. In terms of a player, he absolutely fits the profile we’ve been after; he’s young, hungry, has power and pace and wants to stretch the game and run in behind. Out of possession he’ll press really hard from the front so will fit into our style and philosophy hopefully very easily and importantly, his goal involvement in creating and scoring is very good.

“It’s important now that we get him integrated into the group as quickly as possible and get a clear understanding of what we need from him on both sides of the ball and get him out there to experience what this Club is about. As mentioned, he was at the game on Boxing Day, so has felt the atmosphere inside Edgeley Park from the stands and very soon he’ll get to feel that from on the pitch.

”I’m sure everyone will make him feel very welcome and from the times I’ve spoken with him he seems a very level-headed, humble young man who I think will be a real success with us. Welcome to the Club, Tanto.”

Gary Rowett looks ahead to January Transfer Window

Gary Rowett has given his views on the January Transfer Window and what Millwall are looking for.

The Lions drew 0-0 against Bristol City in their last match of 2022 and the window is now just two days away from opening.

Rowett told the South London Press: “Can we push to get a player in that can can really help us improve? We don’t need squad players and we don’t need depth in the squad. What we need is players who can come in and add that extra competition and extra quality to the starting 11.

“It’s not easy to do that but myself, Alex [Aldridge], Steve [Kavanagh] and John [Berylson] certainly will be looking at that and whether there is a player out there, or two, than can improve what we’re doing.

“We’ll always try to fit that into the profiles of what we want long term as well as short term.

“We hope to do one or two bits of business. It’s always a tricky window and it’s also tricky when you’re doing well, because you don’t want to upset the balance of your team and your group.

“But a sensible addition, the right kind of addition, would be something we’d look at. John is always open to that – if we can bring someone in now that strengthens us, and essentially it means we don’t need that position in the summer, then it is good forward planning.

“They are the sort of meetings we’ve had. We’ll try and be sensible in that approach for the right player. Well certainly looking at some good players and hoping we might be able to add them to the group.”

MILLWALL REPORTEDLY KEEN ON TEMPORARY DEAL FOR PALACE WINGER

Millwall are reportedly interested in signing Jesurun Rak-Sakyi from Crystal Palace on loan for the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.

The winger is currently on loan at South London neighbours Charlton Athletic in League One.

The 20-year-old has scored five goals in eighteen appearances with the Addicks so far.

But now Alan Nixon is reporting that Millwall are interested in a temporary move  for him.

Hull City, Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town have also been linked with a move for the Palace youngster.

It would of course mean the Eagles would have to cut short his loan spell at The Valley before any other move could be completed.
