MILLWALL’S ZIAN FLEMMING OR MANCHESTER UNITED ANTONY, WHO DOES HAVE THE BETTER STATS?

THANKS TO OUR STAT PARTNER COMPARISONATOR FOR THE STATS.

One cost £1.7m and the other £82m, so you’d think there would be a huge difference between the 2 players, right?

Once you delve a little deeper into the numbers, it’s hard to see why there’s a huge difference in the transfer fees between Zian and Antony.

Last season in the Eredivisie, Antony managed to register 8 goals and 4 assists for Ajax as they romped to the league title. Whilst the tricky Brazilian winger was full of flair and skill, which caught the eye of Manchester United, another young star in Dutch football, Millwall’s newest signing Zian flemming hit 12 goals and 4 assists for Fortuna Sittard as they managed to avoid relegation thanks largely to their star man.

Add this to the fact that Flemming managed more minutes, was very rarely taken off, provided more of a physical presence, winning more duels, more interceptions and giving the ball away less frequent than the Brazilian and also provided more defensive cover to his team mates, you might be wondering if Manchester United signed the wrong player?

Now of course, you do have to take into account that Antony was playing for a bigger club competing in Europe and in a different position to Flemming. He also registered nearly 3x the amount of dribbles and successful dribbles than flemming, created more chances for his team mates and his passing ability dwarfs Flemming’s averaging over double the amount of passes and successful passes per game.

Overall, it’s hard to see why the contrast in transfer fees when looking at individual performances and season contributions. There will no doubt be talk of the potential of both players being a factor but potential doesn’t always produce and Flemming, in a struggling side was able to produce more matching winning & point earning moments which can’t be discounted.

Antony made the move to Old Trafford and is playing amongst the elite in arguably the worlds best league, catching the eye of the United faithful and of course playing on the world stage for Brazil at the World Cup – almost fast-tracked into the limelight.

However in SE16, taking a much different route into English football, Zian Flemming is amongst the leading goal scorers in the championship and showing glimpses of how good he really is.

I don’t think it will be too long until we see both in the Premier League showing of their talents & given a fair opportunity, see Zian producing just as much if not more than Antony just like their last season in Dutch Football.

PREVIEW: ENGLAND VS FRANCE

England take on France in the Quarter Finals of the World Cup this Saturday evening.

The Three Lions progressed after beating Senegal 3-0 on Sunday evening – Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka with the goals.

Gareth Southgate’s side impressed against the African Cup of Nations winners, putting a statement performance in.

France beat Poland 3-1, with Kylian Mbappe once again the star of the show with a brace.

Mbappe will be the player to stop and Southgate may opt to stick Kyle Walker on the Frenchman in order to keep up with his pace.

It’s another tough test for England who will go into the game full of confidence and will know they have the capabilities to beat the reigning Champions.

ENGLAND PREDICTED LINEUP: Pickford, Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw, Rice, Bellingham, Henderson, Saka, Kane, Foden.

ENGLAND BREEZE PAST SENEGAL TO SET UP QUARTER FINAL AGAINST FRANCE

England booked a World Cup quarter final place against France after dispatching Senegal 3-0 in the Round of 16.

The Three Lions have now scored the most goals at the competition, after another three put their total up to 12.

Gareth Southgate’s side took the lead when Jude Bellingham’s excellent run saw him slide in Jordan Henderson to finish calmly.

It was two just seconds before the break as Bellingham once again too it forward before playing in Phil Foden who found Harry Kane to double England’s lead.

Kane’s first goal at the competition was a welcome boost for the Captain who’s threat was there for all to see last night.

England rounded the night off when Bukayo Saka’s deft chip gave the Three Lions a third after another assist by Foden.

France are next up for England on Saturday evening in what will be a test – but very much winnable for Southgate’s team.

ENGLAND TOP GROUP B AFTER SINKING WALES

England beat Wales 3-0 in their final Group B match last night in Qatar.

The Three Lions knew if they won they would top the group and they did just that after a superb second half showing.

Gareth Southgate made four changes to his side, with Marcus Rashford, Jordan Henderson, Phil Foden and Kyle Walker coming in for Kieran Trippier, Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling and Bukayo Saka.

The action didn’t get going until after the restart and it was England who got the opener, Rashford’s sumptuous free-kick beating Danny Ward from 25 yards out.

They were at it again just two minutes later as Harry Kane superbly set up Foden to tap home just his third Three Lions goal.

England secured victory when Rashford’s brilliance inside the box resulted in him finding the bottom corner.

It could have been four after John Stones had a chance from a set-piece but could only strike over.

A convincing win for England in what seems a big confidence booster ahead of their match against Senegal in the last-16 on Sunday.

PREVIEW: ENGLAND VS USA – THREE LIONS HAVE CHANCE TO EDGE CLOSE TO QUALIFICATION

England take on USA tomorrow evening in their second group match of the 2022 World Cup.

The Three Lions defeated Iran 6-2 in their opener to sit top of the group.

Goals from Jude Bellingham, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, Jack Grealish and a Bukayo Saka brace gave Gareth Southgate‘s side all three points.

The US drew 1-1 with Wales on Tuesday evening, with the Red Dragons equalising with three minutes remaining of normal time.

James Maddison has reportedly still not trained and remains a doubt for their clash against USA.

But there is good news as Southgate confirmed Harry Kane and Harry Maguire should be fit to play on Friday after respective injury and illness had thrown questions at their fitness.

ENGLAND PREDICTED LINE-UP: Pickford, Trippier, Stones, Maguire, Shaw, Bellingham, Rice, Mount, Saka, Kane, Sterling.

REPORT: ENGLAND 6-2 IRAN – THREE LIONS GET OFF TO FLYING START IN QATAR

England got off to an unbelievable start to their 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar – beating Iran 6-2.

The Three Lions started quickly and were unlucky not to be ahead when Harry Maguire’s header cannoned off the crossbar.

But a couple minutes later Jude Bellingham directed home Luke Shaw’s delivery to put Gareth Southgate’s team ahead.

It was two when Bukayo Saka smashed home from a corner before Raheem Sterling expertly tucked Harry Kane’s cross away to make it three.

Saka made it four just after the restart as he beat three defenders before slotting into the Iran net.

Iran pulled one back when Taremi smashed past Jordan Pickford but that didn’t stop England as Rashford and Grealish made it five and then six.

Deep into added time Iran were awarded a penalty which Taremi tucked home.

Nether-the-less, a great victory for England who go top of their Group after one game played.
