Gary Rowett explained why Millwall fans could not see Zian Flemming during Millwall’s win at Dartford.
The Lions are still awaiting clearance on their record signing’s work permit, meaning he was part of the side that featured in the 5-0 win over Bromley at the Lions’ training ground earlier in the day.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Rowett said, “it was pretty simple. We had to play him the behind-closed-doors friendly earlier, so that’s why there was a little bit of a mixture of players. There was an excellent split, both solid teams, and I think for us, we hope he is available for Friday. If he’s not available for Friday, then we hope to have a game next week that we can involve him in, and it will be sorted by then.
He’s had good training minutes. In some ways, it might not be a massive issue. He’s come into the intensity of our training, of our games. It might work well for him to pause for a day or two to get those legs back. He did well earlier, and we hope he will be available for the next two.
Due to the mixture of squads, Bes Topalloj was handed a start, and Rowett was impressed with what he had to offer. “Bes is very, very composed. He’s something between a left centre-back and a left wing-back. He’s neither in some ways, he will go forward in different ways, he drifts, he glides, he gets into good positions. What stood out today was not just his attitude but his quality on the ball.”
