Millwall were forced to settle for a point against Birmingham City on Wednesday evening.

Tyler Burey came the closest to giving Millwall the lead but he was denied by Blues goalkeeper John Ruddy.

This was far from a classic, both teams for the most part looked happy to settle for a point each in the difficult conditions in which the game was being played in.

Millwall had the games first effort. Zian Flemming trying an audacious chip over Blues keeper John Ruddy but his effort landed on the top of the Birmingham net.

Five minutes later, Flemming’s shot across goal just evaded Mason Bennett at the far post.

The first half ended with neither side having a shot on target.

Murray Wallace, back in the team after his groin injury, then entered the referee’s notebook, being booked for a foul on Chong. He will now miss Saturday’s clash against Hull at The Den following that booking. The resulting free from the hosts sailed over the bar.

In the 63rd minute, the first shot on target. Billy Mitchell’s shot was saved easily by Ruddy.

After that, the game began to open up. Maxmine Colin broke away from the Lions defence and fizzed a ball across goal which Scott Hogan was inches away from making contact with.

Tyler Burey introduced as a second half substitute, picked the ball up on the half-way line raced through one on one with Ruddy but the former Wolves stopper prevented Burey from making it 1-0 to the Lions.

Neither side were able to breakthrough as both sides added a point and a clean sheet to their records. The point for Millwall leaves them still in touch with the top six.
