MILLWALL PREDICTED LINEUP AS LIONS HEAD TO LUTON

Millwall head to Kenilworth Road on Sunday morning to take on Luton Town.

The Lions are looking for their first win since they returned to action following the Championship’s World Cup break.

Gary Rowett’s side returned to competitive football on December 3rd – with a 3-0 defeat to Sunderland and were held to a 1-1 draw by Wigan Athletic last Saturday.

Here is Alex Grace’s predicted lineup for the clash with the Hatters.

Goalkeeper: George Long – There has been some criticism of the former Hull City goalkeeper of late, and some fans feel he could have done better with the first two goals against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Gary Rowett, however, has been clear that Long is his number one, so I thoroughly expect him to start in goal against the Hatters.

Right Back: Danny McNamara – Outstanding in the draw with Wigan last week. Millwall’s main attacking threat down the right-hand side. He was heavily involved in the equalising goal against Kolo Toure’s side.

Centre Back: Shaun Hutchinson – The Lions skipper was re-introduced to the starting line-up last week and played the full 90 minutes. He should retain his place.

Centre Back: Jake Cooper – The vice-captain had been in decent form before the World Cup break and since has looked steady. He remains one of the biggest threats in the league from set-pieces.

Left Back: Scott Malone – In my only change from last week’s side, I believe Scott Malone will return to the starting eleven in place of Murray Wallace, who has struggled recently.

Central Defensive Midfielder: George Saville – Some of the work that Saville does goes unnoticed. He does a lot for the team in those deeper central positions. He will continue in his role.

Central Defensive Midfielder: Billy Mitchell – One of two players that, in my opinion, are the first names on the team sheet. Now firmly a favourite with his manager is sure to start on Sunday.

Left Midfield – Mason Bennett – The former Derby County man has so much talent to offer. The only problem is keeping him fit. By the time kick-off comes at Kenilworth Road, it will have been eight days since the Lions last played, meaning he should be in that starting lineup.

Right Midfield – Andreas Voglsammer – The German is still waiting for his first Millwall goal and had an excellent opportunity to get it last week against Wigan. He is likely to continue despite his shortage of goals.

Central Attacking Midfielder – Zian Flemming – The other guaranteed starter, Flemming is now tied at the top of the Championship scoring charts with nine goals to his name, and his confidence is flowing at the minute.

Striker – Tom Bradshaw – Another one whose goals have been in short supply. He has not found the net since a hat-trick against Watford in October. Despite this I expect him to start on Sunday.
