Millwall moved six points clear of the bottom three after victory over London rivals QPR at The Den on Boxing Day.

Tom Bradshaw gave the Lions the lead in first half stoppage time, turning in George Saville’s cross at the back post – his third goal of the season.

Murray Wallace’s stoppage time goal sealed a first home win since September and just Joe Edwards’ second since taking charge.

It was a scrappy affair with both teams knowing a win would be huge in respect of their seasons. George Honeyman had the game’s first real chance however, he was unable to keep his shot on target in the sixth minute.

Four minutes later, Honeyman again couldn’t keep his effort on target from a free-kick after Jimmy Dunne had fouled Tom Bradshaw with the QPR defender handed a yellow card.

Rangers did not manage an effort on goal until the 35th minute, Ziyad Larkeche’s shot from Paul Symth’s cross was off target.

In first half stoppage time, the Lions took the lead. Saville did well to retain possession and send deep cross to the back post, it looked as if the Northern Ireland international had overcooked the cross but Bradshaw was in position to turn the ball past Asmir Begovic to give the hosts a half time lead.

Five minutes into the second half and Begovic had to be alert to prevent Aidomo Emakhu from making it 2-0. The keeper making a good stop at his near post.

In the 62nd minute, Ilias Chair’s curling effort from just outside the box was easily saved by Millwall’s Matija Sarkic.

With ten minutes left, Brooke Norton-Cuffy sound substitute Zian Flemming but he curled an effort wide of the near post as Millwall hunted a second goal to kill the tie off.

As we entered ten minutes of stoppage time, the Lions doubled their lead, Honeyman’s corner was misjudged by Begovic and the ball came to Wallace and he bundled the ball over the line to seal a much needed victory.
