Millwall will be looking to make a push for playoffs in the second half of the season, which begins this Saturday against Sunderland on Wear-Side, however it has not been the Lions’ away form in which has rocketed them into 6th in the league table, it has been the form shown in London’s greatest venue, The Den.

Millwall’s home form in the 2022/23 season has been nothing short of remarkable, recording 7 wins out of 10 games when on home soil, with a points per game (PPG) of 2.20, which is amongst the best in the division. The Lions have managed to score 16 goals during this spell, none of which came from the spot. A standout victory during this period came when the lions entertained Watford at the Den, with a Tom Bradshaw hat trick stealing the headlines, to end a woeful run of form and start a 4-game winning streak.

The atmosphere of the Den plays a huge part in the performance of the team, with the biggest wins in recent years on home soil against Leicester and Everton coming when the atmosphere has been at its peak, and when the team is playing good football and getting results, few sides manage to generate the kind of atmosphere that the Den can.

With “The Bermondsey Bergkamp” Zian Flemming getting better and better by the minute, yet still only managing to score 2 goals in front of the home fans, it feels as though if the Den maintains its tenacity throughout this season (as we know it will) and Flemming begins scoring as freely in front of the home fans as he does away from home, could the Lions sneak into a play-off place this season?

“We’re the best team in London, NO, the best team of all, everybody knows us, we’re called Millwall”.
